The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has recently opened a captivating exhibition that delves into the Netherlands' colonization of Taiwan from 1624 to 1662. Displaying a collection of art and archival documents, the exhibition titled 'Once upon a time ... the Netherlands and Taiwan' marks the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first Dutch settlers in Taiwan.
Curated in partnership with the Taiwan Culture Center in Paris, the exhibition features 16 pieces that offer insights into the Dutch East India Company's colonial rule on the island of Formosa.
