In recent years, a new generation of Brazilian designers has been pushing the boundaries of architecture in Rio de Janeiro. One standout project is Casa na Arvore, a beautiful country house designed by architect Juliana Ayako. The inspiration for the design came from an old house Ayako saw on a hillside during her drives to the outskirts of Teresópolis. The house, named Casa na Arvore or House in the Trees, is a rectangular volume made of blush-colored brick, featuring an enclosed veranda connected by wooden pilasters.
